IVWorks secures $4.5M to expand 'reGaN' technology into RF and AI power semiconductor markets

IVWorks, a specialist in GaN epitaxial wafer technology, has closed a $4.5M funding round to expand its proprietary 'reGaN' technology into RF semiconductor applications for satellite communications and AI power delivery markets. The company has completed major foundry qualification and is preparing for a KOSDAQ listing.

Why GaN reGaN matters for AI infrastructure

GaN (Gallium Nitride) power semiconductors are crucial for efficient power delivery in AI data centers. IVWorks' reGaN technology reduces contact resistance, improving device efficiency and thermal performance.

As AI workloads grow, power efficiency becomes a critical cost factor. reGaN's improved performance can reduce electricity consumption and cooling requirements in large-scale AI deployments.

RF applications in satellite communications

IVWorks is expanding into E-band and W-band RF applications for satellite communications and wireless backhaul. These high-frequency bands require advanced semiconductor materials with low loss and high efficiency.

The company's reGaN technology offers advantages for RF power amplifiers in satellite transponders and ground station equipment, potentially improving signal quality and reducing power consumption.

Market implications and competitive landscape

The funding round signals investor confidence in IVWorks' technology roadmap and market positioning. With $33M in cumulative investment, the company is well-positioned to compete in specialized GaN markets.

The planned KOSDAQ listing would provide additional capital for scaling production and accelerating market penetration, potentially disrupting established players in RF and power semiconductor segments.
